    Books

    Books for all ages

Reading together is a great way to start conversations that might be hard to start otherwise, or to express feelings that you might not quite have the words for.  We have been collecting a lists of books for family members and have posted links to them below.

Some of the subject matter is very serious and dark.  But sometimes you, and your children or siblings are dealing with grave issues and the books have the potential to be powerful tools if used with care.  We suggest reading books before giving them to children or youth to be sure that you are prepared and willing to have conversations with your children about what they have read.  My son and I have been reading Little Tree: A Story for children with serious medical conditions and even though its actually quite hard for me to read, my 4-year-old son is definitely engaged and benefiting from it.

As a general rule, only read what you are comfortable reading!

We would like to see this list of books grow so please send suggestions and ideas for additions to Nora, nora@tombolo.mn
