September 1, 2010: We are officially a 501(c)3!
Just three days after our Board of Directors fundraising retreat, we got notification from the IRS that we have our 501(c)3 status. Fantastic! But this definitely changes our fundraising plans.
August 28, 2010: Our Board of Directors Fundraising Retreat!
We are lucky to have such a dedicated Board at Tombolo. In addition to full Board meetings, each person serves on at least one committee, helps with out reach, visioning, proofreading and more. We recently had a ‘retreat’ focused in fundraising. See some of our fearless leaders below!
June 2010, Our First Event was a success!
Eight runners joined us for our first fundraiser! The runners, the youngest of whom was 4 years old, ran for Tombolo at the Center for Diagnostic Imaging’s Back in Shape 5K Run, presented by Northwestern Health Sciences University, on June 12 in Bloomington, MN. Everyone finished the race successfully and there was talk of future 5K events for Tombolo. So keep watching for announcements!
May 2010, Meet our new staff member
Tina joined us recently as our Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator. Send her an email at tina@tombolo.mn to welcome her or read about her at http://bit.ly/Tombolo_Tina
April 2010, Tombolo’s First Membership Drive
Why are we launching a membership drive? We are committed to offering our services absolutely free to families. Many of the families that we work with are in varying states of crisis and we strongly believe that we can best support families by removing the financial barrier and providing our services for free.
But providing a free service actually costs a lot! For example, in order to provide volunteers for families we need funding to recruit volunteers (advertisements, fairs, memberships to local organizations, etc.), to train volunteers (space for training, money to copy volunteer handbooks, liability insurance, etc.), and to pay staff (to manage and evaluate the volunteer program to make sure we are providing a positive and safe experience for both families and volunteers).
This is why we need you. In order to do great work with families we need a dependable funding stream. By providing a monthly donation we can provide a consistent, quality service that does not fluctuate month to month in response to variations in financial support. We are looking for all levels of monthly supports.
