Felistus, who many of us know and appreciate from the RRPF listserv, has sacrificed much to bring Ian from Kenya to Boston, where Dr. Hartnick is treating Ian for JORRP at the Mass Eye and Ear Informary.
Until he arrived in Boston last May, Ian couldn’t speak. He couldn’t even whisper. When he cried, Felistus saw only tears. Ian’s JORRP is aggressive, complicated by asthma and was getting worse in Kenya where Ian and his mother had to travel on a cramped minibus up to three hours from their small town, Limuru, to Nairobi, for Ian to have surgery every two weeks.
Even though Mass Eye & Ear has agreed to see Ian for free, the sacrafices have been many to take advantage of this opportunity. Among them, Felistus had to quit her job at a library and leave Ian’s younger sister, Victoria, with her parents.
Felistus is here on a visa and can’t work. The cost of renewing the visa is $800 minimum and the deadline for renewing will be here before the end of the month. All donations would be appreciate to help Ian stay in this country and fight RRP with the best possible care.
The family would also appreciate support in other ways. To become a member of Ian’s Helper’s, click on the image below.
