Do you know a family with a child who has an ongoing health condition? Tombolo wants to help!

Welcome to Tombolo, an emerging nonprofit in the twin cities! We are non-judgmental, non-partisan, have no religions affiliation. We quite simply want to help families connect with their support network to better meet their various needs. The demands on families are many and when a child has a chronic health condition, the demands can sometimes seem unmanageable. Our mission is to help families of children with ongoing health conditions by connecting them to high quality community resources, mobilizing their existing support networks and providing volunteers to address their unmet needs.

As the mother of a child with a rare disease, I have learned first hand that it can be challenging to ask for the help we need, and to accept help when offered.   So I co-founded Tombolo where we strive to make this part of disease management easier for families.

We are recruiting our first cohort of 10 families to our Community Connect program, a free online support network for families who have one of more child with ongoing health condition. Think Caring Bridge + PayPal + Event Planner. Our support network, hosted through Zanby, allows families to create a site and post journal entries, photos, accepts donations, and use a calendar feature to ask friends and families for help with specific events such as rides, babysitting, grocery shopping and more. The family’s site can be as private or public as the family chooses and can interface with Facebook. We welcome families from around the world to participate in this program. We are also recruiting 3 families in the twin cities to receive in-person support as we pilot our Family Bridges program.
